"Lydia has great expertise and she is very patient with children. She teaches cello in a way that engages their interest and encourages progress. My son is benefitting greatly from her instruction and I know that Lydia is giving him a very solid musical grounding. Lydia is also punctual, polite, professional, and generally just a pleasure to have in our home."

"Lydia is an absolutely excellent tutor, very supportive! As an adult learner, I am now more convinced that it is the right choice to start learning cello even at this time."

My vision with my teaching is that I would like to provide each student I teach with a solid musical and technical foundation, as I believe this will lead to the most enjoyment and fulfilment in my students' music-making in the long term.

I use various methods, depending on what type of teaching I do. For individual beginners I use a mixture of Abracadabra and Suzuki material, and for groups I use mainly Vamoosh. Later on I aim to provide a technical foundation with Sevcík, Sebastian Lee, Popper, Cossmann and of course, the wonderful Warm-Up routine book by my own teacher, Mats Lidström.

The Bach Suites forms a central part in sound production and exploration of the cello in my teaching.

Pieces are decided together with the student - I always aim to make sure my students enjoy the pieces they are working on, as I believe this will lead to a better result and a happier practice-process!

I am proud to have a 100 % pass rate on ABRSM exams, with most students achieving Merits or Distinctions.

"Lydia is a wonderfully patient and encouraging cello teacher. My daughter enjoys her weekly lessons with Lydia. I would highly recommend her."

"Lydia is passionate about music and cello in particular. She adapts her teaching technique to the child's age, and more importantly, she cares about her students' progress."
